The Israeli-Palestinian 'No Other Land' Wins an Oscar
Three years ago I worked with Rachel Szor, the documentary's photographer, on a piece I made about the Nakba of Lyd in 1948
And I am so proud of this collaborative work. Rachely is truly an exceptional talent, with an endless flow of grace, aesthetics, and fantastic politics. I hope you enjoy this (if one can even use this word for anything related to Palestinian history under Zionist brutality).
In the familial and communal accounts my two activist interviewees shared you’ll find many of the themes that made a reappearance in the ongoing Gaza genocide.

Maybe you give this a thought, Alon?
Marginalia subversiva on threads:
„No Other Land winning is huge. But the idea that “Israeli” voices are necessary to tell Palestinian stories? Deeply frustrating.
May Turfah’s fantastic read unpacks the power dynamics behind why this film is getting the praise it has. Whose humanity is centered? To what end?
Palestinian stories shouldn’t need settler validation to be heard.“

It's worth reading (and reaharing) this entire piece by Marginalia Subversia. It explains how the new film "No Other Land" actually supports the longstanding 'both sides suffering' Liberal Zionist narrative and erases the true evil of Zionism and the genocide in Gaza. https://open.substack.com/pub/marginaliasubversiva/p/nootherland?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=awhdy
