Close to the Edge of the Escalation Ladder, Israel's New and Exciting Syria Stratagem is Already Backfiring
Israel approaches the limits of its power and adventurism. Will the US come to save it? Can the US save it? I have my doubts
As the mighty consequential Syria front of this
war opens, now may be a good time to recollect how it all began.
But first of all, let me get one thing out of the way: it seems very plausible to me that the Syrian civil war sprung into renewed existence two and a half seconds after Netanyahu was issued an arrest warrant by the ICC; nothing unusual about that. It cannot possibly have anything to do with the Lebanon ceasfire either.
I am also sure there could be no connection (and indeed it would be antisemitic to claim that such a connection may exist) between Netanyahu’s direct threat to Assad, and the civil war that reemerged 15 minutes later.

My belief in the no-connection theory only gets firmer when I remember that none of the Islamist groups that appeared since the American invasion of Iraq (such as ISIS and all their derivatives in the region) ever attacked Israel. They only attack Arab and Muslim regimes, and they attack most regimes that oppose Israel the strongest, Like Syria and Iran.
Given all that, how could there be a connection?
